A city of eastern China on the Yellow Sea north-northwest of Shanghai. It is a leading industrial and tourist center. The city was leased in 1898 to the Germans, who established a famed brewery. Population, 1,250,000.

The majestic and beautiful Taoist mountain rises from the shore of the Yellow Sea. Mist from the sea changes the sight of the mountain constantly.

Qingdao Beer Brewery
Qingdao (Tsingtao) beer is known worldwide for its unique taste.

No.1 Bathing Beach
Located at Huiquan Bay south of the city proper, the bathing beach is 580 meters long and 500 meters wide. The beach is covered with fine sand and the water is clear and placid.

Daqing Mountain
It lies 35 kilometers north of the city proper. Its main peak is 800 meters above sea level. Zhizang Temple, Jujing Pavilion and Yueyue Terrace are found on the precipitous mountain.

The Cathedral
Located on Shannan Road in the city, it is the only Consecration church in China. It has two Gothic bell towers and a gigantic cross on the top.

Qingdao Pier
Qingdao Pier is the symbol of Qingdao. It was built in 1897 and is an extension of the city's main thoroughfare, jutting 440 meters out onto the sea. A traditional octagonal pavilion has been added at the southern end. It is an ideal place to enjoy the sea view.
