A city of east-central China on the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang). It is the industrial, commercial, and transportation center of central China and the capital of Hubei province. Population, 3,400,000.

It is located in the eastern suburbs of Wuchang and is a pleasant break from the city, for walking or boating. It is a vast lake, covering 33 sq km, with many bays and inlets and is also known as "the Lake of 99 Bays." Emperor Chu’s Tomb, and the Chang Chun Guan Temple are located around East Lake

The Great Yangzi River Bridge
Construction of this mighty bridge commenced in 1955 and was completed in 1957. This was the first steel bridge across the Yangzi and the bridge and its approaches are 1.7km (1mile) long. The bridge comprises a 6 lane highway and a 2 track railway running along its 8 piers and 9 arches. Vehicles on the motorway are traveling 80 meters (262ft) above the Yangzi.

Guiyuan Temple
Located in the district of Hanyang, the Guiyuan Temple is dedicated to the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin. This active temple was first established over 300 years ago and has many halls and pavilions. There is an impressive white jade statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha in Daxiong Hall and over 500 Buddhist statues in Luohan Tang.
